Profile
BTWM
is a privately-owned company formed in 1993 with the purpose of developing
techniques for employing duckweed to cleanse wastewater and to research
use of the harvested biomass as a feed supplement for animals and fish.
The
company has spent the past seven years developing and constructing systems
for cleansing wastewater from a wide range of sites. These have included
municipal sewage treatment works, intensive animal production industries,
abattoirs and food processing plants.
BTWM's investment
to date in terms of dollars and time have been very substantial. Our research
work has involved financial assistance from the Rural Industries Research
and Development Corporation (RIRDC) and the Commonwealth Department of
Primary Industries and Energy (DPIE). In addition to the help BTWM has
received from the Commonwealth and local municipal councils, the company
has been strongly supported by the NSW Department of Land and Water Conservation
and the EPA.
As a result of its
extensive research and practical experience, BTWM is in a unique position
to share its knowledge with research partners and clients.
